Before the desert compounds existed, this was Giza. Dokki and Mohandessin are dense, walkable, thoroughly urban districts on the west bank, and for a certain buyer nothing in the corridor competes.
The stock is largely 1960s–80s apartment blocks, which means generous ceilings, real proportions and, frequently, wiring from another era. A good renovation here buys you a flat no new-build can imitate; a bad one buys you a lawsuit with the building's owners association.
Nile-facing floors above the eighth are the prize and are priced accordingly. Everything else is negotiable, and parking is the constant complaint.
